The Table is back
Updated: Sep 1, 2021
Fall is almost here and we’re happy to announce that we will re-launch, The Table, our midweek gathering, the first Wednesday after Labor Day (September 8th). The Table is a place where we meet to eat and build community through small groups. We believe that this is a great place for anyone who wants to start new and/or deepen existing relationships with God and with other folks at Christ UMC. It is also an easy and natural place to invite children, youth, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. So please, don’t keep this a secret. Help us get the word out to the people in our community!
We realize how fast-paced and hurried life can be with work, school, extra-curricular activities, etc. And rather than adding one more thing to your already full calendar, we want to make Wednesdays easy, fun, and memorable for people of all ages. We will have volunteer teams and maybe some food trucks that help prepare and serve meals on Wednesday Nights. We will start the meal every Wednesday, at 5:30 pm but please understand that it is a loose start as we realize that many folks are just finishing up their day at that time. At 6:30 pm we will offer small group opportunities for folks to participate in. And if you have a group idea that you would like to start simply email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know about it.
Our fall schedule will run from September 8 - December 1, with the exception of November 24th (the Wednesday before Thanksgiving) from 5:30-7:30 pm.
Finally, I will leave you with this thought. According to the book of Acts, which details some of the adventures of the early church, we know that early believers would meet regularly in the synagogue for corporate worship AND they would also meet in smaller group settings for meals and prayer. It was in those regular rhythms of life that those early Christians found purpose and meaning for their lives and hope for the world that they lived in. Perhaps we will find those things too by following those same ancient practices.
